In this way, we will be doing our bit to collaborate in this research that is very close to our hearts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Why La Marat\u00f3 de TV3?<\/h2>\n<p>Personally, I decided to share the initiative with Basetis because I find the awareness-raising, citizen mobilisation and dissemination work done by the TV3 Marathon Foundation very positive for society. Year after year, a large amount of money is raised from small contributions from all over the country. This year, for example, the amount raised was \u20ac10,715,430, and this is a provisional figure, because there is still time to make donations until 31 March. So if anyone has missed it and wants to do so, there is still time!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">2018 Edition &#8211; Cancer<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As explained on the website of La Marat\u00f3, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccma.cat\/tv3\/marato\/que-es\/2018\/1290\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">section<\/a> on the disease, thanks to biomedical research, <strong>cancer survival in Catalonia has grown by 7% in the last 10 years<\/strong> and the average currently stands at 55%. But despite the advances made in treatments, diagnostic methods and prevention, <strong>the incidence of cancer is still very high<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<blockquote><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will get cancer in their lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Furthermore, c<strong>ancer is the leading cause of death<\/strong> in Catalonia among men and the second cause of death among women.
